Following the trend of power in a lightweight build highlighted in all of the other skis in Atomic's Backland Collection, the Backland 98 W provides ultimate versatility and big-mountain capabilities. Using Atomic's Ultra Power wood core, the Backland 98 W stays nice and light for those long climbs, but offers the stability and responsiveness to handle gnarly freeride terrain. Atomic's Carbon Backbone lays over the core providing additional stability and power demanded by hard charging ladies looking to send it in the backcountry. A nice balance of camber and rocker are perfect for the mixed conditions one might encounter while out on a tour. The camber provides power and edge hold for when the snow is a bit firmer than anticipated, whil the rocker helps with both float and maneuverability overall. Speaking of Rocker, a unique feature that Atomic implements into the design of the Backland 98 W is their HRZN Tech Tip where they basically spoon out the shape of the tip to add surface area and reduce tip deflection. As a result, you get a ski that floats better and one that feels very smooth in softer snow conditions. For ladies who want a lightweight ski for efficient climbs as well as a ski that will offer them superior downhill performance, the Atomic Backland 98 W would be a fantastic choice.
