The Backland 100 from Atomic mixes the efficiency and minimalism of an Alpine Touring ski with the robust profile and performance of an all-mountain ski. Light enough to run up a mountain with, but stable enough to ski it in bounds at your resort, the Atomic Backland 100 strikes a balance that is often hard to achieve. Atomic's Ultra Power Wood Core features a lightweight yet stout construction which allows for a great deal of stability on firmer or variable snow. A generous amount of camber, and a full sidewall construction all add to the skis overall stability while also helping with edge hold. The fair amount of tip rocker and slight tail rocker not only allow the Backland 100 to float well in softer snow but they allow the ski to release easily for those surfy or skidded turns. At 100 millimeters under the boot, this ski is versatile enough to take perform in a number of different snow conditions. Match the Backland up with an Atomic Shift binding for maximum versatility in a setup that you can use both in and outside the ropes that will provide the power and confidence of a true all-mountain setup, but the efficiency of an AT setup for those long ascents. Not all skiers want to deal with a heavy all-mountain ski with metal laminates, and quite frankly we can't blame them. Skiers looking for a fairly simplistic and lightweight all mountain ski will love the Backland 100 and shouldn't rule it out based on its prowess as a touring ski.
